Current Programs
CALF conducts a variety of educational programs, agricultural projects and special events aimed at providing enlightenment and enjoyment while Connecting People to Agriculture. CALF’s current activities include:
Farm Days
Aligned with Douglas County’s Kindergarten curriculum, Farm Days encourages students to use their five senses to experience agriculture at the Lowell Ranch. CALF’s 2009 spring program will bring more than 1200 students and homeschoolers to the Ranch.
4-H Livestock Projects
CALF provides facilities for 4-Hers with the passion for animals, a place to raise a 4-H livestock project. To date, more than a dozen “CALF Kids” have used the Lowell Ranch as home to their livestock projects.
May Day and Harvest Day
CALF hosts two community festivals each year focused on agricultural enjoyment and enlightenment.
Pumpkin Patch
Each year, CALF plants a pumpkin patch and harvests the pumpkins at Harvest Day in October.
Community Garden
Currently, CALF’s community garden hosts eighteen 10’ x 10’ gardening spots that flourish with a variety of vegetables and flowers.
