CALF's Connecting Kids to Agriculture (CKA) programs aim to provide students and teachers with a better understanding of the importance of agriculture in a hands-on, authentic environment. Currently, we provide programs for Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades and a summer camp ("Camp CALF") for 3rd-6th graders. Depending upon the program, students may learn about the 5 food groups from a real farmer or rancher, understand the adaptations for plant survival by planting and harvesting in the Where Food Comes FromTM school garden, and learn about Colorado History through Native American storytelling. The CKA program curriculum has been redesigned to address specific CDE grade-level standards for Science; Math; History; Comprehensive Health; Reading, Writing, and Communicating; and Physical Education! Programs are typically 4 hrs in length (ideally 9:30 am to 1:30 pm) and students bring their own sack lunch to enjoy inside or outside depending on the weather. For more information about our programs, please keep scrolling... We hope to see you soon at CALF's Lowell Ranch on Plum Creek!
